a christmas poem

In Amsterdam, hanging with Santa

Four days away from Christmas and all was array.
Malls packed with people, shopping away.
Stocking stuffers for the husband, booze for the dad,
No merriment is being had.

No forecast for snow filled play,
this impending Christmas day.
Only rain and wind, typical
of a Vancouver winter day.

Turkey, stuffing, potatoes and gravy.
My mother-in-law makes enough food to feed the Canadian Navy.
Lots of wine and stretchy pants,
my waistline cannot take it, no it can't!

This year we are escaping, no cold Christmas for us.
To Mexico we are going, sun and sand here we come.
Margaritas, guacamole and the chicken bus,
Cabo for a week, then we are done.

See you all in a week! Merry Christmas to you and your families! Have a happy and SAFE holiday!
